SMOKY MOUNTAIN SHOWDOWN- Smokin’ Hot

The roping in the arena started off with a fever pitch as Saturday morning began with the #13 Fab 5 roping where 21 teams competed for an
80% payback which was $5850.  Josh Minton and Justin Hurst put on a show.  Between the two of them they pocketed $3200 of the total pot.

The day then continued with the #10 Bonus Roping which ended with the 6th high call back of Jeff Hartfield and Nino Ciccone roping their short
round steer in a rapid 8.82 and sweating it out as the top 5 could not reach their mark.  Jeff and Nino took home some beautiful buckles, cash
and custom made Reinsman trophy saddles for winning first in the average.  Clint Moore, Dave Johnson and Dean Thorpe were the high point
winners and also took home Reinsman saddles.

Saturday finished up with the start of the Priefert No Barrier Chute Carl Gregory #8 Truck Roping.  The high call back team of Rip Wilson and
Cody Gilley roped their first 2 steers on Saturday in 18.21 and watched as 899 more teams tried to knock them off the top.  This turned out to be
one of the fairest #8 point ropings in quite some time.  The high call back was an 18.21 and the 75th call back was a 26.9.   With lots of cash, a
$45,000 truck, 20 buckles and 9 Trophy Reinsman saddles on the line, ropers gave their best effort to run at the awesome cash and prizes.

With half a dozen ropers having 3 or more call backs going in to the short round, there were definitely some odds on favorites to drive home the
Carl Gregory Dodge.  When all the times were tallied, an unlikely candidate with only 2 call backs (41st & 7th) and finishing 3rd and 12th in the
average, 15 year old Scotty Hartfield out of New Albany, Indiana amassed 135 points to take home the Carl Gregory Dodge.  The  beautiful
Reinsman saddles were distributed to the average winners Ethan Hayes and Sandy Burns, as well as the following high point ropers:   Brad
Stanfield, Gina Compton, David Woodward, Tommy Locklar, Teresa Herman, Lucas Hayes, Junior Johnson and Nino Ciccone.  Please check
our results and picture page for the complete payout of cash and prizes.

This roping is a keeper on your calendar for 2009.  With an awesome facility and a great location, JX2 productions will definitely bring its Priefert
no- barrier chute back to Morristown for a #8 point truck roping next year.
