JX2 Comes to Memphis January 11-13, 2008 Champions
|
Memphis, Tennessee was the place to be January 12 & 13th . JX2 Productions came to Memphis, Home of the Blues, Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll and paid out
$138, 000 in cash and prizes in 2 days.
The weekend was kicked off with the Super 7 Header where all ropers get 6 head and the top 25 come back to the 7th round with an 80% payback. With some top-
notch ropers and a quality set of steers brought by Chip Phillips, every round and especially the short go were all very entertaining. Ropers took home a grand total of
$34,000.
Daniel Little and Cody Sing roped good enough to position themselves as 2nd high call back in the roping. They roped their 7th steer in 8.01 seconds to put pressure
on the high call back team of Jay Crain and Adam Rose, who had dominated the roping on their first 6 head with a time of 44.99. When that team went out with a no
time on their 7th steer, Daniel and Cody emerged as the Champion team of the 7 header with a time of 58.86 on 7 head splitting $8400.
Immediately following the Super 7 header, JX2 Productions went to the Priefert No Barrier chute. The bonus roping, which was held Saturday evening for #4 point
and below ropers, was a great success. The response for the Priefert No Barrier chute was overwhelmingly positive.
This particular bonus roping provided #4 and below ropers an opportunity to rope for 81% to be paid back in prizes and cash in the main average. With 8 super nice
Running P saddles at stake and lots of cash, the short round was very exciting. When the smoke finally cleared, Larry Hinson and Trey Smith won the roping and the 8
saddles were distributed amongst our high point ropers.
The Grand Finale of the weekend was the Carl Gregory Dodge Rope for the Truck. JX2 Productions spared no expense providing a super nice, automatic, 4 wheel
drive ,4 door, diesel, dually Dodge truck not to mention $21,000 in Cash, 10 custom Maynard buckles and 20 Carroll Original Wear Vests.
With 10 ropers having at least 5 call backs in the short round, this awesome truck was truly up for grabs. With lots of great times turned in during the short round it
proved to be one of the toughest truck ropings in quite some time. When the points were finally tallied, Jeff Tilley edged out Duane Yost and Lauren Glasco for the
Dodge Diesel but Duane and Lauren did not go away empty handed. They both collected $2000 for being the Runner Up High Point ropers.
JX2 would like to thank the city of Memphis, the Agricenter staff and ropers for helping make this a great production. See you next year, same time, same place.
